Our office will be closed Monday, October 13 for Columbus Day. 
Tax Statements have been mailed.  Quarter Payments are available if you have the Over 65 or Disabled Homestead Exemption, please contact our office to get this set up.  Please remember you must sign annually. 
If you have an ESCROW ACCOUNT with your Mortgage Company,  you would have received a white statement with MORTGAGE HOMEOWNER on the right side of the statement; this is a statement for your records.  Please do not pay from this statement unless you do not have a mortgage escrow account on your property.  Mortgage codes are updated annually from the mortgage companies.  If you have any questions about your statement, please contact our office for assistance.

Our Mission

To courteously and professionally serve the taxing units of Morris County by providing equal and uniform appraisals of all properties whereby efficient assessment and collections services will be performed on behalf of participating taxing units in compliance with the statutes of the Texas Property Tax Code.

Welcome to Morris County Appraisal District!

Within this site you will find general information about the District and the ad valorem property tax system in Texas, as well as information regarding specific properties within the district. Morris County Appraisal District is responsible for appraising all real and business personal property within Morris County. The district appraises property according to the Texas Property Tax Code and the Uniform Standards of Professional Appraisal Practices (USPAP).

 OFFICE HOURS ARE MONDAY – FRIDAY, 8 AM TO 4:30 PM,
CLOSED FOR LUNCH FROM 12 – 1:00 PM.

Due to the increased postage cost, our office will no longer mail receipts.
All receipts can be found on the website or we will gladly email/ fax them to you.  Thank you for understanding.

Morris County Appraisal District is responsible for the fair market appraisal of properties within each of the following taxing entities. Additional responsibilities include change of address and public information requests.

  • Morris County
  • Daingerfield – Lone Star Independent School District
  • Hughes Springs Independent School District, Morris Portion
  • Pewitt Consolidated Independent School District
  • City of Daingerfield
  • City of Lone Star
  • City of Naples
  • City of Omaha
  • Northeast Texas Community College District

Tax rates and ultimately the amount of taxes levied on property are determined by governing bodies of each of the taxing authorities. 

Mineral, utility and industrial accounts are appraised for the district by Pritchard & Abbott, Inc. in Tyler, Texas.

Real estate and personal property accounts are appraised locally by the district.
